WeWALK’s goal is to make mobility truly inclusive, giving its own visually impaired team members, and society as a whole, equal participation in everyday life. Its features have been meticulously built based on learnings from user requirements testing and alternative products within the market. WeWALK is the first smart cane to feature obstacle detection and a truly comprehensive smartphone application that can be used even without the smart cane connected. WeWALK is also the first solution to provide multimodal navigation where a visually impaired user can navigate through walking and public transit routes in one seamless journey, with WeWALK notifying the user of when to board and alight transit vehicles, including buses and trains. WeWALK is also the first to combine this custom-built navigation experience with autonomous exploration options and a hardware cane-based device with voice feedback. WeWALK is thus one of the most accessible navigation solutions available, validated through awards including a TIME Best Invention, Edison Gold Award, and Amazon Startup of the Year.
