Mohan Valrani co-founded the Al Shirawi Group in 1971 alongside Abdulla Al Shirawi, transforming it from a modest trading enterprise into one of the UAE’s largest privately owned industrial conglomerates.

Arriving in Dubai in 1966 with just US$10, Valrani’s entrepreneurial vision and resilience laid the foundation for a diversified business empire comprising more than 30 companies across manufacturing, engineering, logistics, construction services, steel fabrication, oil and gas, and education. Today, the Group employs over 11,000 people.

Strategic diversification began with the establishment of Emirates Printing Press in 1974, followed by Al Shirawi Equipment in 1976. In 1981, the Group became the exclusive distributor for Scania trucks in Dubai, marking a significant milestone in its industrial expansion.

Valrani’s commitment to education led to the founding of Arcadia School in 2014. The first campus opened in 2016, followed by the addition of a high school in 2020. By January 2025, the institution had grown to serve more than 3,000 students.

His journey in Dubai exemplifies the successful integration of entrepreneurial ambition and community contribution. The long-standing partnership with Abdulla Al Shirawi has been instrumental in building a multi-industry conglomerate that has played a significant role in the UAE’s industrial development.

Beyond business, Valrani’s legacy is firmly rooted in education and philanthropy. As Chairman of The Indian High School since 2009, he led the institution to achieve its first ‘Outstanding’ inspection rating. His philanthropic contributions include sustained support for the Rashid Centre for People of Determination, where he actively participates in initiatives that empower children with special needs.

Valrani remains dedicated to nurturing future generations and strengthening community welfare through sustained acts of service, leadership, and social responsibility.
