Careem, a Dubai-based super app, has launched “Seeds For Lebanon” in partnership with the United Nations World Food Program (WFP) to support communities affected by the crisis in Lebanon, pledging to match every donation made through the initiative.

Donations can be made through Careem’s in-app Donate platform, with 100% of contributions directed to WFP’s emergency food assistance operations on the ground.

On Careem Food, customers can support the campaign as AED2 from every order placed at participating restaurants, including The Good Bowl, Wrapped, Sofret Beirut, Oventine by Al Safadi, Al Safadi and Manoushe Street, will go toward relief efforts.

On Careem Quik, 100% of profits from Lebanese olive oil purchases will be donated. Meanwhile, Careem Pay is also offering zero-fee transfers to Lebanon.

“What is happening in Lebanon is heartbreaking, and we feel a deep responsibility towards the people of our region. Through Seeds For Lebanon, we are making it as easy as possible for our customers, partners, and wider communities to contribute to those in need,” Mudassir Sheikha, CEO and Co-founder of Careem, said. “By matching every donation, we hope to multiply the impact of every contribution made.”

Seeds For Lebanon is now live across Careem platforms.

“Families across Lebanon are enduring unspeakable suffering, struggling to survive and put food on the table. At moments like this, partnering with Careem is one of the most effective ways where people can help reach those in greatest need, turning generosity into immediate food assistance,” Bashar Al Hammami, Head of WFP Partnerships in UAE, said.

Careem said previous donation drives this year raised more than AED2.2 million for humanitarian relief, with nearly 47,500 food orders directly linked to the cause.
