M42, a global health company powered by AI, technology and genomics, alongside its renal care business Diaverum, has launched kidney.com, a new AI-powered kidney health assistant designed to help individuals better understand their health and make informed decisions.

The platform is launching in the UAE, France, Germany, Portugal and the UK, with additional markets expected to follow.

According to M42, kidney.com aims to improve awareness around chronic kidney disease (CKD), with studies showing that informed patients are less likely to require hospitalisation or emergency care, highlighting the role education can play in improving outcomes and supporting healthcare systems.

The platform is designed to provide free, personalised and interactive kidney health education through a conversational AI interface trained on trusted clinical sources and evidence-based content. Learning experiences are tailored to individual user needs.

Dimitris Moulavasilis, Group Chief Executive Officer of M42, said the platform reflects the company’s focus on using advanced AI to support healthier lives and tackle one of the world’s fastest-growing lifestyle-related conditions.

“By combining trusted clinical expertise with intelligent technology, kidney.com helps make informed health decisions,” he said, adding that responsible AI can support prevention and help improve the management of chronic kidney disease.

Chronic kidney disease remains one of the most costly chronic illnesses for healthcare systems, with annual costs in Europe estimated at €140 billion. In the UAE, CKD prevalence is estimated at between 4% and 5% among adults, increasing significantly with age.

Rafael Romanini, Chief Executive Officer of Diaverum, said the initiative extends the company’s focus on combining science and innovation in renal care into the digital space, helping make kidney health knowledge more accessible and actionable.

The platform is not classified as a medical device and is not intended to diagnose or recommend treatment. Instead, it is designed to complement professional medical guidance and support preventive care and self-management.

Dr. Fernando Macario, Chief Medical Officer at M42, said informed patients are generally more engaged in their care, which can improve adherence, reduce complications and contribute to better health outcomes.

The launch of kidney.com forms part of M42’s broader strategy to develop healthcare systems powered by AI, data and intelligence, while expanding access to clinically specialised digital health tools.
