Bassel Gamal is the Group CEO of Qatar Islamic Bank (QIB), a position he has held since 2013. With more than 30 years of experience in banking and finance, he is also Chairman of QIB-UK and a Board Member of QInvest. Before joining QIB, he held senior leadership roles at Ahli United Bank Group, including Senior Deputy Group CEO – Banking Group, and previously served as CEO of Ahli Bank Qatar. He began his career at Commercial International Bank in Egypt. Under his leadership, QIB reported net profit of QAR4.6 billion and total assets of QAR200.8 billion in 2024. The bank’s total income reached QAR11.7 billion, while maintaining the lowest cost-to-income ratio among Qatari banks at 17%. QIB has also expanded its digital platform to more than 300 services and introduced several first-tomarket digital banking innovations.
