Saudi Arabia‘s entrepreneurial ecosystem is entering a new phase. Driven by the ambitions of Vision 2030, a new generation of founders is building ideas that are reshaping the Kingdom’s economy from fintech to logistics to creative commerce. But the real measure of success is no longer how many startups are launched; it’s how many successfully scale into sustainable businesses. As the ecosystem matures, the question founders face is changing from “How do I start?” to “How do I build a business that can grow, adapt, and create lasting value?”
What will determine the next phase of growth is whether founders have access to the capabilities, networks, and opportunities they need at the right moments in their journey. Turning entrepreneurial energy into sustained economic impact requires an ecosystem where founders, digital platforms, investors, mentors, and public and private sector partners work together to accelerate innovation.
Working with businesses of all sizes, one lesson stands out: startups that scale most successfully are rarely those with the biggest budgets they are the ones with the strongest fundamentals and the right ecosystem around them.
Empowering the Next Generation of Founders
Funding gets most of the attention, but capital alone doesn’t build a lasting business. Founders also need digital skills, strong mentorship, and the discipline that comes with investment-readiness training. These are the things that turn a promising idea into a company that can survive, compete, and grow.
We saw this play out in the first edition of the TikTok x Blossom SME Empowerment Program. Fourteen startups received hands-on guidance, structured mentorship, and access to the right networks, collectively generating US$840,000 in revenue growth and securing more than US$14 million in follow-on funding.
These outcomes weren’t driven by funding alone. They reflected the value of practical mentorship, stronger business models, clearer market positioning, and better investment readiness. When founders receive the right support at the right stage, the impact extends well beyond the duration of any single program.
Among the cohort’s standout startups, Powder Beauty and Aya show how scalable fundamentals and practical mentorship can make real impact and generate results. Powder Beauty, a Jeddah-based beauty platform, reported 300% revenue growth in 2024 while building GCC-wide exclusivity for 18 brands and expanding through both direct-to-consumer and wholesale channels. Aya, a Riyadh-based modest-fashion marketplace, combines AI-powered trend validation with a demand-driven supply model and reached US$10 million in ARR within 1.3 years of operations. Different categories, but a common lesson: a strong skill set and network support can turn a clear understanding of local demand into repeatable growth.
Leveraging Digital Platforms for SME Growth
Products do not sell themselves, even the best ones. Finding customers remains one of the hardest parts of building a business, and this is where digital platforms can make a meaningful difference.
Digital platforms such as TikTok enable SMEs to build a brand, tell their story, and reach new audiences without needing a large marketing budget. For many founders, digital platforms reduce traditional barriers to market entry by allowing them to connect directly with customers through authentic, creative storytelling.
But visibility alone is not a growth strategy. Sustainable businesses are built by combining a strong product, a clear value proposition, and meaningful customer engagement. Digital platforms are most powerful when they help founders strengthen those fundamentals, not replace them.
Strengthening the Ecosystem Through Partnerships
Founders need practical access to mentors, investors, technical expertise, and opportunities to reach customers. No single organization can provide all of that. Lasting innovation is built through collaboration, where the public and private sectors, investors, accelerators, universities, and technology companies each contribute different strengths.
This collaborative model is becoming a defining feature of Saudi Arabia’s innovation ecosystem. Initiatives such as hackathons, accelerator programs, and cross-sector partnerships create opportunities for entrepreneurs to test ideas, build practical solutions, connect with experts, and strengthen their businesses.
As Saudi Arabia’s innovation ecosystem continues to evolve, founders will increasingly benefit from partnerships that combine complementary expertise, helping more startups translate promising ideas into sustainable businesses.
Building for the Future
Scaling a startup is not defined by a single milestone, but by the ecosystem that enables founders to keep growing. It is the product of sustained investment in people, capabilities, and collaboration. Saudi Arabia has already put many of the right foundations in place: ambitious founders, supportive policies, growing investment, and a vibrant innovation ecosystem. The next chapter is to ensure that more startups can successfully scale into sustainable businesses that contribute meaningfully to the ambitions of Vision 2030 and the Kingdom’s long-term economic future.
