“The future of digital finance will be global, and the UAE understands that better than almost anywhere else,” says Viktor Uzunov, founder and CEO of UEB3 Ventures, a globally positioned private investment fund focused on digital assets, managing US$70 million in assets.

The Bulgarian-born fund manager focuses on digital assets and considers the UAE to be a natural hub for companies like UEB3 Ventures, as it offers “a rare combination of ambition, speed, capital, regulation, and global connectivity.”

Uzunov adds, “What makes the UAE so attractive is that it does not only talk about the future; it actively builds for it. There is a clear appetite to support innovation, attract talent, and create an environment where entrepreneurs and investors can operate globally.

“For digital finance, that matters enormously. This is an industry that needs regulatory clarity, institutional participation, and access to international markets. The UAE offers all three.”

Viktor Uzunov

Long before the UAE emerged as a catalyst for his ambitions in digital assets, Uzunov was forging his career in the traditional world of finance.

After graduating in London, Uzunov worked as a Vice President at Jefferies.

It was during his years in investment banking that Uzunov came to view blockchain not as another investment trend, but as the foundation of a new financial infrastructure. “Coming from investment banking, you are trained to understand how capital moves, how markets are structured, how risk is priced, and how institutions think,” he says. “When I first looked seriously at blockchain, I did not see it only through the lens of Bitcoin or speculation. I saw a technology that could change settlement, ownership, transparency, liquidity, and access.

“The more I studied it, the clearer it became that this was not just another cycle of innovation. It was a shift in how value could be created, stored, transferred, and verified globally.”

Uzunov’s conviction was shaped by two important insights – the resilience of digital asset infrastructure across multiple market cycles and the growing interest it attracted from sophisticated investors and institutions. “That was the turning point for me,” he explains. “I realized Web3 was not about replacing traditional finance overnight. It was about upgrading parts of the system that had become too slow, too fragmented, or too inaccessible.”

Yet, leaving behind the stability and structure of investment banking to pursue opportunities in the emerging digital assets sector was far from an easy decision. “In investment banking, the path is demanding, but it is also clearly defined. There is structure, prestige, and a system around you,” Uzunov explains. “Entrepreneurship is different. You leave certainty behind and step into an environment where everything depends on your judgment, resilience, and ability to execute.

“Moving into digital assets required conviction. It also required humility, because no matter how much experience you have, a new industry forces you to learn again.

“That decision shaped me because it taught me the importance of independent thinking. It is easy to follow an established path. It is much harder to build one before everyone agrees that it is obvious.

“It also made me a more disciplined leader. In a fast-moving industry, you cannot afford to be emotional. You need conviction, but not ego. You need ambition, but not recklessness. You need to move quickly, but with structure.

“That balance between courage and discipline has become central to how I lead today.”

In line with that, he built UEB3 by combining the rigor of traditional finance with the speed and innovation of digital assets, while keeping transparency, risk management, and capital preservation discipline at the center.

UEB3 applies institutional portfolio management and disciplined digital-asset strategies, with a focus on structured, risk-managed exposure for institutional and private investors.

“Digital assets are often associated with hype, speculation, and tokens. But at UEB3 Ventures, we do not build around narratives or token speculation. We build around fundamentals, risk management, and the belief that finance is moving on-chain through transparent, programmable infrastructure,” Uzunov explains.

“Capital preservation is central to the way we think. That does not mean avoiding risk completely. It means understanding risk, measuring it, managing it, and making sure every decision fits within a disciplined framework.

“Sustainable growth comes from consistency. It comes from education, transparency, strong partnerships, and building products or strategies that can survive different market environments. Anyone can look successful in a bull market. The real test is how a company behaves during corrections, uncertainty, and pressure.”

UEB3 frames its investor experience around an accessible entry point supported by transparency and education. For Uzunov, participation in digital assets should come with clear information, a disciplined framework, and education that helps investors understand both the opportunity and the risks.

UEB3’s approach is built around diversified exposure to digital asset markets and infrastructure, all within a risk-managed framework. For Uzunov, the point is not hype or token-picking, but a broader shift in how finance moves on-chain – from ownership and settlement to transparency, liquidity, and access.

Asked what will have the greatest impact on how wealth is created and managed in the years ahead, Uzunov points to the convergence of artificial intelligence, tokenization, and digital assets.

“Artificial intelligence will change how decisions are made. Tokenization will change how assets are owned and accessed. Digital assets will change how value moves and settles,” he explains. “Separately, each one is powerful. Together, they can reshape the entire wealth management landscape.

“AI will make financial intelligence more personalized, faster, and more data-driven. It will help investors analyze risk, identify opportunities, and manage portfolios in ways that were previously available only to large institutions.

“Tokenization will make private markets more accessible and efficient. Assets such as real estate, private credit, funds, and other real-world assets can become more liquid, transparent, and easier to distribute globally.

“Digital assets provide the underlying financial rails for this new environment. They introduce programmable ownership, faster settlement, and global transferability.”

For Uzunov, this convergence also explains why his work extends beyond digital asset portfolio management into tokenized real assets through Arreat Capital. He believes the future of finance will connect liquid digital markets with real-world ownership, creating new opportunities for investors globally.

According to Uzunov, the future of wealth management will be about accessing a broader universe of assets through smarter, more efficient infrastructure. “I believe the winners will be those who combine technological innovation with trust, credible governance, and sound investment principles,” he says. “Technology will open the door, but credibility will determine who walks through it.”

UEB3 frames current performance as an outcome of process rather than a headline claim. Uzunov attributes results to disciplined execution and risk management, while emphasizing that past performance is not a promise of future returns. “I have always believed that the companies that survive are the ones that can manage risk, allocate capital intelligently, and make decisions with a long-term perspective. This is even more important in digital assets, where the speed of innovation is extremely high, but so is the level of volatility,” he explains.

“Disruption is important, but disruption alone does not create trust. Investors need to understand what they are investing in, how risks are managed, who is accountable, and what the long-term thesis is. Without that, even the most exciting technology can fail to attract serious capital.

“At UEB3 Ventures, we are building with the belief that the next stage of digital assets will be defined by professionalism. The early phase of the industry was about experimentation. The next phase is about institutionalization.

“That requires discipline. It requires governance. It requires the ability to say no to opportunities that may look attractive in the short term but do not fit the long-term strategy.”

Looking ahead, Uzunov believes one of the biggest misconceptions among institutional investors is the tendency to view digital assets as a single, uniform asset class. In reality, he argues, the sector has evolved into a diverse ecosystem of distinct segments, each with its own risk profile, use case, and investment thesis.

Understanding these differences will be critical for investors seeking to capture the opportunities emerging across the next generation of financial infrastructure. “There is a major difference between speculative tokens, blockchain infrastructure, tokenized real-world assets, stablecoins, decentralized finance, and long-term digital stores of value,” Uzunov explains. “When institutions treat everything as “crypto,” they miss the depth and complexity of the opportunity.

“What they are missing is that digital assets are no longer only about price appreciation. They are about infrastructure. They are about programmable finance, faster settlement, broader access, transparent ownership, and new models for capital formation.”

For Uzunov, the industry is not defined by hype, speculation, or the next token narrative. Its deeper direction is the movement of financial activity on-chain, where value, ownership, and settlement can become more transparent, programmable, and globally accessible.

While risks remain inherent to the digital assets sector, Uzunov notes that the key challenge for investors is no longer determining whether digital assets will play a role in the future financial system, but identifying which parts of the ecosystem are likely to become integral to it. “The institutions that understand this distinction early will have an advantage,” he concludes. “They will not be chasing hype; they will be positioning themselves for the next architecture of global finance.”
