Shorooq, a UAE-based multi-strategy investment firm, and Presight, an Abu Dhabi-based applied artificial intelligence company majority-owned by G42, have invested in US industrial robotics company Maven Robotics as part of its US$100 million Series A funding round.

The investment was made through the Presight–Shorooq AI and Bedaya Funds managed by Shorooq, alongside investors including RoboStrategy, LocalGlobe, Vine Ventures and XTX Ventures. The individual investment amounts from Shorooq and Presight were not disclosed.

Founded in 2024 and headquartered in Santa Clara, California, Maven Robotics develops autonomous robots for logistics and manufacturing operations. The company initially focused on mixed-case palletizing and tote handling and is now preparing to build 250 of its third-generation machines.

According to Maven, its robots currently operate for up to 16 hours a day at customer sites with reliability above 99%. The new funding will be used to expand its third-generation fleet and develop a fourth generation of its technology as the company moves beyond palletizing into additional materials-handling applications.

“The first wave of AI reshaped how we work with information; the next will reshape how the physical economy runs, and that is a far larger prize,” said Bilal Baloch, Partner at Shorooq. “What sets Maven apart is that Hamza and his team are not chasing a research benchmark — they are solving one industrial problem at a time, with the discipline and return-on-investment focus that real operators demand. Backing a company like this, from Abu Dhabi into Silicon Valley, is precisely what it means to invest in the frontier from the region, for the world.”

The investment will also provide Maven with access to applied AI expertise and the wider technology and computing ecosystem associated with Presight and G42, alongside Shorooq’s investment and company-building network.

”AI creates value when it works reliably in the environments where businesses operate,” said Thomas Pramotedham, Chief Executive Officer of Presight. “Maven is applying intelligence to the physical work of moving and handling goods, where performance is measured in operational results. Through the Presight–Shorooq Fund I, we aim to support companies like Maven with capital, applied AI expertise and relationships that can help them scale. This investment reflects our belief that the value of intelligence is realized through its application.”

Maven’s technology is designed to enable robots to learn from real-world operations and perform industrial tasks autonomously. Its initial applications target logistics and manufacturing, with the company estimating that mixed-case palletizing and tote handling represent an addressable market of approximately US$80 billion.

“We’re not in the race to build the biggest model — we’re in the race to solve industrial labour and make this work possible at the scale the world needs,” said Hamza Derbas, Chief Executive Officer and co-founder of Maven Robotics. “Shorooq and Presight understood that from the first conversation. Beyond the capital, they bring an ecosystem — compute, data and enterprise relationships — that helps us deploy faster and reach customers we might not have reached alone. We also see the region a node from where we can take our robots global.”

The investment adds Maven Robotics to Shorooq’s portfolio of AI and deep-tech companies, with the firm investing across venture capital, credit, private equity and real assets.
