Nadeera

Nadeera is a social enterprise that helps instill circular economy practices through technology-enabled interventions. The three pain points its product, Yalla Return, is trying to address in the waste management value chain are lack of source segregation, high waste transportation costs, and lack of quality assurance and verification for recovered recyclables. The aim is thus to to maximize the value and recoverability of disposed items, and decouple economic growth from continuous resource extraction. Through Nadeera’s technology suite, which includes mobile applications, a proprietary internet of things system for tracking, an artificial intelligence powered waste recognition software for waste inspection, smart bins, and reverse vending machines, the company has digitized and personalized the waste recovery scheme, and allowed for the end-to-end traceability of recyclables, from the point of their generation, to the point they are recirculated back into the economy, thereby giving positive impact creators ownership of their contributions.

  • FOUNDED IN: 2021
  • SECTOR: SUSTAINABILITY AND ENVIRONMENT

“Through Yalla Return, more than 500 tons of recyclables have been recovered, which has helped conserve over 12,215 cubic meters of landfill space, 1,753 tons of carbon dioxide, and 4,430 kilowatt hours of energy. Additionally, through Yalla Return, over 15,000 households have been empowered to recycle their waste, decreasing the need to import and extract raw materials, and generating job opportunities.”
