Abu Dhabi Named Top AI City in Middle East
The UAE capital ranked three places ahead of Dubai in an index assessing 57 cities across 36 countries.

Abu Dhabi has been ranked the Middle East’s leading city for artificial intelligence in The Observer’s inaugural AI Cities Index, placing three positions ahead of Dubai.
The index assesses 57 cities across 36 countries based on AI investment, innovation and implementation. The latter measures the infrastructure, institutions, systems and expertise available to deploy AI across business, government, education and communities.
Globally, San Francisco ranked first, followed by New York. The index found that East and Southeast Asian cities accounted for six of the world’s top AI hubs, including Seoul, Tokyo, Singapore, Shanghai, Shenzhen and Beijing.
Seoul ranked first globally for AI implementation, followed by Tokyo in third place and Singapore in fifth. Abu Dhabi and Dubai also ranked strongly in the implementation category.
